I recently had rotator cuff and bicep tendon repairs surgery. At the recommendation of my occupational therapist, I got this cream for “local” pain relief. My doctor had prescribed diclofenac cream, but I got absolutely no relief from this. The Biofreeze has been great! It has a menthol base; for those of you as old as me (!), it smells like the mentholatum our moms used on us when we were kids. Anyway, when I apply it I get almost immediate relief. The menthol has a “cooling” effect, which feels great on both my shoulder and bicep area. I apply it wearing it a glove just so the cream is not all over my hand, but it is not sticky on the skin after application. I put some on about an hour ago and can still feel the “tingle” and am having no pain. For me, this has been a great product following a very painful surgery. Recommend to others.

Massage into joints is best & WASH hands well; do not touch your face until there’s no scent on hands. The Only OTC better than ointment is the costly Biofreeze patches. Icy Hot Patch Corp bought this once amazing bestselling in USA product over 5 yrs ago.
Since buy out, there’s a subtle difference between the 2 products, esp the patch adhesive which Icy Hot changed for the worst. Biofreeze patches do NOT stick thru sweaty workouts or any activity bc patch falls off if one has lotion on skin or hands, rubs against clothing; nor are biofreeze patches gentle on skin bc it’s same adhesive Icy Hot uses. Patch material has been changed too so it’s almost identical to Icy Hot patch which is cheaper.
Bio freeze Jar has changed to 1/2 height, yet still states “3 ounces.” “10% menthol = active ingredient “ so same original formula.
Sad every time a great alternative to chemicals is created & becomes popular, rival big corp buys the company & either ends it or changes it to mediocre, but keeps raising the price as if consumers don’t notice.

Love this for sport massages after a workout. The smell isn’t too strong and goes away after rubbed in. I think it works well and helps the pain subside. Rubs clear once on skin.
