A family friend suggested the TheraICE brand reusable gel ice packs when my father in law was recovering from surgery, and it was so much more convenient and effective than other ice packs, so it has been our preferred brand for pain relief ever since. ThereICE brand is pricier than the cheap resuable ice packs you can get from the drug store that we’d been using before, but they provide better coverage and stay on better, so it is worth it for us. So we were excited to try these ice pack compression sleeves to help with delivering pain relief to knees, etc. And this doesn’t disappoint. The sleeve is a nice soft material that is comfortable to the skin. It cools off relatively quickly in the freezer, and retains the cold relief for a good amount of time (not quite as long as an ice pack with actual ice, but it was still plenty cold for the 20 minutes that I wanted to ice my knee).
The sleeve is adjustable, and like others have mentioned, the velcro is incredibly strong, and might be too strong for some people. I needed two hands to try to pull the velcro apart, and at first I was going to take off one star for this, but then I realized that the velcro probably needs to be that strong in order to hold it in place on a joint. Plus, once I adjusted it to the correct size for my knee, I don’t plan on needing to adjust it again.
(Note: the sleeve can also be heated, but cold is my preferred mode of pain relief, so I haven’t tried the heat option)

I was surprised by the size of the sleeve and the way it has the velcro wrap. A lot of other products seem bulky and have ice chunk sections. I like this sleeve version better.

I was surprise to find out it could be used a heating pad as well as a cold pad. It was nice to have the option of either hot or cold. I heated it in microwave and put it on my knee and it felt really good. It can get very hot so be carful when using it hot on any one the area. The heat doesn’t last very long (only about 5 minutes) so needs to be reheated again. It gives the area a chance to breathe.
It is heavy, so it only can be used when there is a place to rest. It isn’t meant to be “worn”.

I have been using the Freeze Sleeve brand for years and decided to give this a try as I needed a ice therapy wrap. The quality is top tier, and maybe even overkill as others have noted that the velcro is incredibly strong. The mass of the freezing gel area is slightly thinner than the Freeze Sleeve brand, which lends itself to both issues and advantages. It doesn’t hold the cold as long as the Freeze Sleeve, but in return it is a bit more lightweight and it does get cold a bit faster. That being said, the TheraICE wrap does last fairly long and is still very effective at pain relief and even numbing the area. I like that it’s adjustable, which helps not only ensure a snug fit but allows a bit more adaptability in say, going from the elbow to the knee and back again. The Freeze Sleeve’s spandex lining wears out with too much swapping, and this is where the TheraICE wrap really shines. Plus, the outer material is an attractive velure texture, which adds a nice touch. If it were only a bit thicker, being combined with the ability to make it snug it would be a perfect solution.

This helped me so much. When I could feel an ache coming, I would just toss this on until it wasn’t cold enough to help anymore(usually about an hour and a half). It is actually quite pliable when it is cold too. Normally cold packs or ice packs are stiff, this one still has a bit of mobility to it so its easier to put on and conform to what you need it for. I am a larger individual so it did fit a bit snug but it was okay. Kinda like wearing tight shorts when you are used to wearing loose clothing. In the end though, it was great. Easy to use, size was good, stayed cold for quite a while, and eased a lot of pains.
