The Rebecca Review –
My GFR has gone from 42 to 63 in a matter of years. I am not a doctor like the authors writing this book, nor is this medical advice, but I’ve found reading books on kidney disease has really helped me manage my condition and even get better! So I’m encouraged and happy to find yet another great book.
This book is the most complete manual I’ve ever read on chronic kidney disease. The doctors writing this book explain accurately why it happens in the fist place. As the doctors state: “CKD is a progressively deteriorating condition with no cure.” Therefore this book is about dialysis and kidney transplants. It gives you a lot to think about if you want to live longer.
Some of the questions this book answers include:
Can a person live with only one kidney?
What foods are low in potassium?
How can I prevent UTIs?
I was in stage 3b when I started reading more about kidney disease and now I’m back in stage 2! So there is definitely room for improvement. I’d suggest reading The Complete Guide to Supplements for Kidney Health as it tells you about things to take that improve kidney function. Please consult with your nephrologist before taking the advice in this review or in the book. The authors and I want you to be under the care of a medical professional.
