I have used HealthPlus Kidney Cleanse for years. I find it supports my kidneys very effectively. It also quickly eliminates any discomfort on the days that I am a little dehydrated. I appreciate the Kidney Cleanse product.

I am not sure what I am looking for?? Can someone tell me how they know it’s working? Reviews keep saying that it works. Okay, how do they know? I have gotten 1/2 through my second bottle. The formula is loaded with B vitamins, among other things. The bottle says 2 capsules, 3 times a day. Well, the B12 has what they say is 8,750% of the recommended daily value per serving. Hmmmm, that means 26,250% per day. Does that mean 262 times the daily recommended daily value. Am I understanding this correctly?
Okay, so I have had some reservations. Why? When I take as directed, I become horribly dehydrated. Urinating excessively. When I don’t take it, I am fine … normal. I know it is a cleanse. So, okay, the more you go, the more you are cleansing? But being dehydrated is not good for you. I drank plenty of fluids, but it went right through me. Okay, let’s call that normal for the product. Let’s say it is all normal and it is working for me. But back to the B vitamins. I have had some skin issues and was spooked by the super high amounts of B in this product. I see that B12 in excess can indeed cause issues. Skin for sure. AND, the following even states that excess can be bad for your kidneys (this person is discussing a dose double … I understand that)!
ConsumerLab.com Answers an important question …
Question:
Can taking too much vitamin B-12 be dangerous? The label on my B-complex states it contains 50,000% the Daily Value!
Answer:
If your B-complex contains 50,000% of the Daily Value (DV), which is 6 mcg for adults, then it has 3,000 mcg of B-12. For people without a severe B-12 deficiency, this is certainly more than necessary.
Taking some B-12 is advisable for people over the age of 50 (when you’re less able to extract B-12 from food), as well as for those taking medications that interfere with B-12 absorption, strict vegetarians, alcohol and drug abusers, people recovering from surgery or burns, and those with bowel or pancreatic cancer.
Although vitamin B-12 is generally considered to be safe, and no “Upper Tolerable Intake Level” has been established, there are some reports of doses of 20 mcg per day or higher causing outbreaks of acne and rosacea. There is also a study which showed that a high-dose B complex supplement (with 1,000 mcg of B-12) hurt, rather than helped, people with diabetes and advanced kidney disease.
In general, it’s best to avoid excessive doses of any vitamin if it is not needed.
End
So, I am going to try something else. First, I’m going to give it a rest and see how my skin works out. My skin was good, has been good. The issues I believe started with this product. But not sure about timing, so I’ll hold off judgement until my body has had some time to adjust to life WITHOUT Super Kidney Cleanse.
