Like most of you, I paid extra money because this brand was involved in the calcium study. Then I went to the study and guess who sponsored the study? You guessed it – algaecal. If you read any studies then you know that the government makes the study mention if the study was sponsored. That is important because the company stands to make money on it as it can also be effective marketing. I don’t have to tell you that $84 with tax was a huge waste of money for me.
There are some pluses to like though. Easy to swallow pills, it’s vegetarian. But I couldn’t find a single study that says calcium from sea plants is better than calcium citrate. As both benefit your system. my only problem with this is that it’s not worth eighty dollars. And that this company uses their own study to increase the price. Since other calcium companies that use kelp, algae are half this price.
Here’s what I did to get the best deal:
SInce most supplements tend to not be what they say they are. All you have to do is watch journalist Johnny Harris on Y ou tube and he will tell you that supplements are not regulated by the us government. and that many supplements don’t have any ingredients of what you buy at all. Any company can put any ingredients they want into a supplement since the FDA doesn’t check. Although I don’t believe this company has been dishonest in that regard. They are merely using their own study to up the price beyond what their supplement is worth.
Here’s how I bypassed supplements altogether.
I went to my doctor and asked for a calcium citrate supplement. I went to my drug store and it cost about $4.00 for 1200 mg calcium daily for a 3 month supply with my rx card.. But here’s the thing. It is 100% calcium citrate because the FDA does hold pharma companies accountable. And if this company is caught lying, no drug store or medical doctor will ever use it again.
UPDATE ———————
This company is so serious about their service, they actually emailed me and gave me my money back. I couldn’t believe it. What I said before was true. However I would like to add that extracting calcium from the sea is a much more costly process. That’s is why it’s expensive. I still think it’s expensive for me, but it it is high quality. Also, this company was very concerned about my satisfaction. They did not offer to give me my money back if I changed the review though. That is something that I did on my own.

Excellent product, great combo of bone building ingredients. 3rd party tested, even NIH recognizes it is more effective than the usual plain calcium supplements. It is quite expensive. Amazon delivered it super fast. Thanks.

This product is now getting blocked by Customs as it contains Red Algae. Customs needs additional documents to release this item so I reached out to AlgaeCal Team but they said No to any help. They clearly said they can’t assist with any documenations. So, its better to avoid this brand as they are plenty of better options available nowadays

Helps with bone density

This is the first I am giving a review for a product and I hope this will help someone looking to buy this product.
I was diagnose with osteoporosis this year (2020) and was prescribed with 6 monthly injection of Prolia – hence when I saw the add for Algae cal I bought straight away as I don’t want to have this injection. When my order arrived I took 1 tablet straightaway after lunch. I feel the difference on my body with one tablet – I feel lethargic (feeling very very tired). Took another tablet after dinner – and I felt I need to go to bed early and find myself struggling to get out of bed the next morning. I still took them for 3 days and I got worse and worse. I stopped taking them now and my body went back to normal. I sleep and wake up as normal. So I guess this tablet is the culprit. I hope I can get refund when I return them. I bought 3 Algae cal and 3 Stronium.

What drew me to it is that it’s plant-based, made from marine algae, and includes not just calcium but also magnesium, vitamin D3, K2, and other trace minerals that all work together to support bone health. It’s not just about calcium—AlgaeCal takes a more complete approach.
After a few months on it, I can say I’ve noticed improvements. My nails and hair seem stronger, and I don’t feel as achy or stiff in the mornings.
It’s not a magic pill, but it gives me peace of mind knowing I’m doing something proactive for my bones with a natural supplement that actually nourishes instead of just treating symptoms.

Algae Cal provides the calcium and vitamin D I need to prevent osteoporosis. I don’t know if it has increased my bone density, since I have not had my bone density test yet. I can say that my back does not hurt anymore.

Recently diagnosed with osteoporosis… These were recommended by my internist because I’m not able to take the injections such as Prolia for the next few months. I have not been on them long enough to know whether they helping to rebuild my bones so I can’t really say whether they’re working or not. However, you have to take two twice a day and at a cost of $84 per bottle. It’s quite expensive when living on a fixed income.
On a positive note, I had read that some people suffer from an upset stomach when taking these, however, I have been fortunate not to have any side effects.
