This toddler step stool requires assembly. The included directions are pretty straightforward. The parts are made of heavy duty HDPE plastic. It says the weight limit is 200 pounds, but I wouldn’t recommend an adult using this step stool. It is made for children. I plan to give this as a gift to my niece who is a little bit on the short side. The stool colors are gender neutral and should blend into most decor. It doesn’t have a safety back brace so it is meant for toddlers who already have good balance and should be used under adult supervision.

This toddler step stool is made of hard plastic and feels sturdy once set up. My toddler loves it because he can now reach countertops and wash his hands by himself. Compared to other stools in this price range, the big advantage is the side rails. They give him something to hold on to while climbing up and also provide stability while standing. As you can see in the video my wife took of him using it, it stays in place.
It is not as elaborate as some of the more expensive stools that have full back support, but for $40 it does the job very well. The non-slip grips on the bottom keep it from sliding, and my toddler can go up and down safely without it moving around.
The one downside is the “foldable” feature. Technically it folds, but as shown in the pictures, there is very little difference in footprint between folded and unfolded. Because of that, I wouldn’t buy it expecting significant space savings. That said, since we keep it out all the time anyway, this hasn’t been an issue for us.
Overall, I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. It’s sturdy, safe, and practical, but the folding claim is a little overstated.
